If you're in the market for an LCD TV that can be used as a PC monitor, then the Samsung SM2333HD is a good choice for you. It has been noted that this particular LCD TV provides a good gaming performance setting it at level with several other top name LCD TVs. There are some flaws though, quite minimal, but still considered as flaws. When watching movies, you may notice that the colours are not up to par and may appear a bit dull. Plus, the unit also has the tendency to show more green tints and there is some bleeding of the back lights when showing dark images. But then again, with its low price, this is still acceptable.
The Samsung SM2333HD gives off an elegant touch. But that's about it. It looks good but it doesn't have ergonomic designs like height adjustment and screen rotation. And it can only tilt backwards for fifteen degrees. Using the stand, there is a space between the surface where it stands to the lower frame of the TV that is less than 3 inches, then the bezel measures at a quarter of an inch at all sides. There may be some slight wobbling when it is moved but there is no danger of it toppling over as the Samsung SM2333HD has a wide span. If you want, the Samsung SM2333HD can also be mounted on a wall using the four holes located at its back.
Speaking of its back, this 23 inch Samsung LCD TV has most of the connecting ports found on its lower right side. There you will be able to find 2 HDMI ports, a DVI, component port, and a connection for either cable or antenna. There is also a normal and digital audio out socket. Additional HDMI port and a port for a headphone jack may also be located on its left side where it is enclosed by a small door.
Performance-wise the Samsung SM2333HD has both its ups and downs. First off, the Samsung SM2333HD LCD TV supports full HD, with a native resolution of 1,920 by 1080 pixel. Many monitors today are now expanding to a 16:9 ratio and this unit also supports it. High Definition movies with 1080p fit well in this ratio without the image being stretched when in full screen mode. One flaw that was discovered is that this particular TV set has troubles distinguishing grey from true black. This means that it is highly likely that the true black detail will not be as natural as it should be, there is also some slightly noticeable colour tracking errors. Also, with dark scenes, you may also see some bleed through of the backlight. On a positive note though, when used for games, it provides an exceptional performance without any signs of ghosting, streaking or lag in inputs even during fast motions.
For the best viewing angle, it would be preferable that a person would be directly in front of the Samsung SM2333HD LCD TV and at about one fourth of the distance of the screen down from the top. When at an angle, you can perceive some darkening from the screen.
But nevertheless, the Samsung SM2333HD 23 inch LCD TV is as good as what its price demands. You get a number of features that makes this TV stand out from the rest like innovative power saving, a built in digital TV tuner, four colour effects - sepia, aqua, greyscale and green, and the capacity to not only have a great looking TV for any office or bedroom, but to also to enhance any gaming experience.
